🌸 The Story Behind CN1 Fragrance: Where Scent Meets Intelligence - CN1 Fragrance

The Story Behind CN1 Fragrance: How the Brand Started

Why a fragrance brand is named after a nerve

CN1 is the first cranial nerve — the olfactory nerve. It is the only sense that reaches the brain without being routed through the thalamus first, which is why smell connects to memory and emotion more directly than sight or sound. Walk past a scent someone wore years ago and you will place the person before you place the smell.

We named the company after that shortcut, because it is the whole reason fragrance matters to people.

Where CN1 came from

CN1 Fragrance is an independent fragrance house in Dearborn, Michigan, operating under MJR Gateway LLC. We started selling in 2024 and have shipped over 200,000 bottles since.

We began the way most people begin: liking designer fragrances and not liking what they cost. The gap between what is in a bottle and what a bottle sells for is enormous, and most of that gap has nothing to do with the fragrance itself.

What we actually make

CN1 Impressions are our interpretations of designer fragrances. We work from the same note structures and build our own version. They are not counterfeits — no borrowed name, no copied packaging, no pretence about what they are.

CN1 Originals are our own compositions, with no reference fragrance behind them. CN1 Candy and Cocktail Breeze are two of them.

Everything is eau de parfum concentration, blended in-house at our own facility in Michigan from concentrates we select ourselves. We are not a reseller and we do not white-label.

Why it costs less

A designer bottle carries licensing fees, celebrity endorsements, department store margin and national advertising. Those costs are real, and they are in the price you pay, but none of them are in the bottle.

We sell directly to you and blend our own product, which removes both the retail markup and the third-party manufacturing markup that most brands in this category pay. That is the entire explanation. There is no clever trick and no proprietary technology — just a shorter path between making it and selling it.

What to expect from the fragrance

Ours typically last six to eight hours on skin. Woody, oriental and vanilla compositions hold longest; citrus and aquatic scents are lighter and fade sooner. That is true of fragrance generally, not just ours.

Skin chemistry does affect how a fragrance smells on you — that is real, and it applies to every perfume ever made. What it is not is a feature we engineered. Anyone selling you a fragrance that reads your body temperature is selling you a story.

Applying to moisturised skin and to pulse points will get you more wear time. So will not rubbing your wrists together.

How to find one you like

Start from the scent family rather than the bottle. Work out which family a fragrance you already love belongs to — aquatic, citrus, floral, fruity, spicy, oriental, vanilla, woody — then look at ours in that family. Every product page lists the full note breakdown.

If there is a designer scent you keep coming back to, there is a reasonable chance we have made an impression of it.

Questions

Is CN1 cruelty-free?
Yes. Our fragrances are not tested on animals at any stage, and they are formulated without parabens.

Are they unisex?
Many are. We organise the catalogue by scent family rather than by marketed gender, so you can judge fit from the notes instead of a label.

Why is it cheaper than the designer version?
Because we do not pay for licensing, celebrity faces, retail shelf space or national ad campaigns, and we blend our own product rather than paying a contract manufacturer.

Where are you based?
